We did a horseback tour again this year; sadly, Lizzy was taken ill right before it started, so rather than put her on a horse when she felt faint, Jason took her back to the house.
This guy startled me when I was having a quiet moment alone by the pool.
It’s good to be home, though. Ada’s working at the pool, starting today, and has a driver’s ed class to finish up. Tomorrow Lizzy is swimming in the season’s first swim meet. Jason and Caleb have a 3-D printing project going. Jeddy is working on getting college paperwork turned in. And I have our first staff training to do tonight for upcoming VBS, plus a stack of new books on my nightstand and a hot puzzle going. I got over being sick and then traveling, so today I spent some of my Mother’s Day gift certificate on flowers from the nursery, and Lizzy planted my window boxes for me.
I anticipate the rest of the summer will be plenty busy with swim team, VBS planning, another family trip with my side, behind-the-wheel driving lessons, VBS week, volleyball preseason…and likely a series of doctor’s visits to figure out what’s going on with Lizzy, who has continued to have near-fainting spells.
But I have been fortified with a week of watching the sun rise over the beach and reading a book by the still pool with giant herons tiptoeing by. It’s just possible I might snatch a few more moments like that before fall.
