Hop ’23

Playground #1

As previously mentioned, my summer is jam-packed.  I have VBS planning and driver’s ed; Jed has college paperwork, a job, a girlfriend, and a million friends; Ada has lifeguarding, driver’s ed, volleyball preseason, swim team, and teaching swim lessons; Liz has swim team.

Playground #2

Caleb, however… has pretty much nothing.

Playground #3

Playground #5.  No good pictures were taken at Playground #4 because the kids were wilting.  So stop #4 1/2 was Tropical Smoothie to perk them back up.

So I took compassion on him and created a Summer Fun Series.  Last month I took him and Lizzy to the children’s museum for an afternoon, and a different day we went on another playground hop.  This year I split my playground list into two so we could do it two different days.  We’ll do Hop Part 2 next week, Lord willing.

It was hot, although not the 98 degrees of two years ago.  More concerning was the Canadian wildfire smoke, which my camera absolutely did not know what to do with.  It was good to return home to filtered air after five play stops.

After a full year of coddling, my orchids have burst back into bloom!

4th of July at the pool, blessedly hot and lazy (for those of us who weren’t lifeguarding at least).

Surprise!

Jason offloaded his very cool drone footage from the beach.

And when we got back, we successfully executed the months-in-the-planning surprise pool party for Jed’s 18th birthday.

Hiding!

Some time later, on a quieter evening…
