Is the squish looming or is it starting early?
Last weekend Ada traveled out of town to go to a formal dance with Charlie (who has made subtle previous appearances on this site here and here) on Friday night.
Saturday morning I was up before dawn to take graduation photos of Jeddy, who is opting not to attend his ceremony but borrowed a friend’s regalia to pose in. (Lies! Lies! I’m not even sure the accessories are the right color for his degree. But he did at least put the tassel on his left, which means he hasn’t graduated yet. Which is true.)
| Thank you, John Butt, History 2022, for inspiring the most genuine smiles I got out of Jeddy at 6:30am. |

It’s all part of setting the bar low for my amateur photography career.
Later in the morning, after I felt like I’d already lived a whole day, I watched Caleb’s soccer game.
That evening both the girls had a formal to go to. Ada brought Charlie back to town with her, and, impressively, they even had different outfits for this one.
Lizzy invited an old family friend to go with her, and got ready at his house with the hair-dressing help of his very talented older sister.
That was just one weekend. Soon we’ll have all the graduation festivities (mostly for Ada, since Jeddy doesn’t care and he’s too old for me to make him) and the next-year school planning and the this-year school finishing and the Sunday school teacher switchover and whatever else May has in store. It feels like we’re off to a running start though.
