Thursday dawned cloudy and wet, although the sun did peek out over Cozumel as we were pulling up.
We found ourselves at a table for six with all our kids at breakfast, which was a nice change from often being scattered onboard.
We gathered once again at the theater to be dismissed for debarkation.
After a long wait on the pier, they found us a catamaran and we took off to our snorkel site.
There were way more fish than in the snorkel area at Castaway and arguably more than in St. Lucia—Jason and I disagreed on this point. I maintain that there were perhaps a greater number of individual fish here in Cozumel, and certainly more swirling right around us, but St. Lucia had more species diversity.
Anyhoo, it was enough to make for a very rewarding snorkel experience (and my GoPro got great pictures!).
Back on board, we sailed not back, but onward to a special beach with an inflatable water playground for us to play on.
Bonus feature: my wetsuit’s reinforced rubber knees make it double as a tactical suit for climbing wet play structures. |
After some very quick souvenir purchases from the huts on the beach, we were back on the catamaran, where the included margaritas were plentiful and we had a dance party on the deck while we sailed back to port.
{Fun fact: Did you know it’s really hard to do the Macarena on a wildly rocking boat while trying to hold your phone and a marg in each hand? Didn’t stop me from trying, though, no, not I.}
This day we did make it back onboard in time for dinner, happily.
After dinner and a stint in the kids’ club for the youngers, we watched a bit of The Princess and the Frog on the big screen, but even in Cozumel it was windy and chilly, so I didn’t last long on deck.
It was time to discover the evening’s towel animal and go to bed.
Definitely a monkey. |
