ALL the Millers take Manhattan

Jason and I had such a fun and successful trip two years ago to New York City, we decided to take a family trip there this month as our Christmas gift to the kids.

(Are we crazy?  Let me check....yes.  Yes, we are crazy.)

It's ok to talk about it, now that we're all home safe and sound and no one lost, right?

(Goal #1 of Fun Family Vacation:  Don't lose anyone in New York.  Mission accomplished.)

Here's the selfie of us pulling out of the driveway.  If Jason's face doesn't say "complete confidence in what I've decided to do," I don't know what does.

Here we are waiting for the train that will take us into the city.

There it is!

We made it to New York.  We eventually procured subway passes and found our way to our hotel.  Significantly underestimating how much time it would take us to get anywhere (for the first of many times), we left a mere half hour to get to Rockefeller Center at 5:30.  Thankfully they let us in 40 minutes after our timed tickets said to visit the Top of the Rock.

Guess how cold it was up there?

We oohed and aahed pretty quick because it was freezing up there, and then we made our way to Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway.  My heart sank when I saw that the line to get in the door was halfway down the sidewalk.  The hostess was coming down the line asking how many were in each party.  They were all small parties of two and three ahead of us, so I figured with six of us, we'd be freezing on the sidewalk for hours.  But, inexplicably, as soon as I said "six" to the hostess, she told us to come inside, where she escorted us right to a table.  I have no idea how that worked.

Jason and I settled right in.

After dinner, it was a simple matter of hoofing through Rockefeller Center and navigating the subway back to the hotel with sugared-up kids late in the evening, before collapsing into bed.
